2042 GMT - What a speech, Serena clearly is an incredible leader. Now it is time to review the year in Football.

BBC SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR 2025: THE TOP THREE ARE ELLIE KILDUNNE, RORY MCILROY AND LANDO NORRIS,  Voting now reopens to decide the winner

2030 GMT - ARMAND DUPLANTIS WINS BBC WORLD SPORTS STAR AWARD 2025

2028 GMT - Tennis followed by Athletics, the voting for SPOTY is about to be frozen, with the top 3 set to be announced shortly

2026 GMT - Nick Faldo is the last Golfer to win SPOTY. In 1989 he won The Masters, Volvo PGA Championship, Dunhill British Masters, Open de France and the World Match Play Championship. He also represented Europe at the Belfry in the Ryder Cup.

2025 GMT - This has been some emotional SPOTY so far, and surely more is to follow.

2022 GMT - Ellie Kildunne speaks to Gabby Logan

2020 GMT - ELLIE KILDUNNE, THE FINAL NOMINEE FOR SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR

2019 GMT - We are nearing the result of Team of the Year, personally for me it has to the Lionesses and winning a second European Championship, but either of the other two could take it. The voting going online only will change the demographic enormously.

2018 GMT - England's Winning team speak to Gabby Logan

2016 GMT - THE WOMEN'S RUGBY WORLD CUP

1959 GMT - Another whirlwind roundup of sports this year

1956 GMT - Luke Littler is at the social club in St Helens, practising for the PDC World Championships, so he is also not on site, but the vote could cause a surprise

1954 GMT - A piece on Luke Littler's year and impact on the sport of darts at the age of 18

1954 GMT - LUKE LITTLER

1953 GMT - An emotional evening continues as Thierry Henry shares a touching message with his children, who present him with the award

1944 GMT - LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - THIERRY HENRY

1943 GMT - No mention of Rory's wins at Pebble Beach, Sawgrass and the Irish Open, but hey ho

1942 GMT - Emotion from Rory talking about being a father

1941 GMT - Rory speaks to Claire Balding

1940 GMT - Blimey, its a bit steamy in here, that Sunday in April will live with those who saw it, forever

1938 GMT - NOW IT IS RORY, narrated by Niall Horan

1937 GMT - Tommy Fleetwood, who could easily be a nominee himself, chats to Claire Balding about the Ryder Cup

1934 GMT - James Nesbitt narrating this piece, and I have to say it is excellent, summing up the enormity of the Ryder Cup

1934 GMT - Now it is the Ryder Cup

1933 GMT - TEAM OF THE YEAR VOTE CLOSES - Surely England's women Euro Champions will claim this

1931 GMT - Now it is a whirlwind roundup of multiple sports including winter sports, horse racing, tennis, NFL, Snooker, Women's Rugby and Rowing - Me thinks this show needs to be changed and have a different format

1927 GMT - Lando Norris is not in Salford, which you would think would rule him out, but it has happened before and maybe it will happen again

1924 GMT - The show moves on to Formula 1, and Lando Norris's campaign to win the World Championship. An epic season full of stunning moments.

1922 GMT - A really emotional moment for this award, as the two fathers speak on stage.

1920 GMT Helen Rollason Award winners - Sergio Aguiar and David Stancombe - Sergio and David, the fathers of two of the young girls killed in Southport last year, ran the 2025 London Marathon this year as part of their fundraising efforts to establish lasting legacies in their daughters' names.

1915 GMT Time for the Helen Rollason Award

1912 GMT Now it is Rugby, wow that was quick, and its a real problem for this show, cramming a whole year of Cricket into 2 minutes. Should be longer for Rugby given it was a historic year for the Lions in Australia, and the England women in the World Cup.

1910 GMT The show begins by reviewing the year in Cricket, didn't realise this was a comedy show. They are focusing on the summer against India, and now moved on to what is becoming a catastrophic Ashes series.

1906 GMT Not a single mention so far that we have a British World Heavyweight Champion - Fabio Wardley, but hey ho it wasn't on the BBC was it. Voting has opened - Vote for RORY MCILROY BY CLICKING HERE

Welcome to SHANK/GRNDSTND's Live Blog covering what could be a momentous night in the world of golf and sport - as Rory McIlroy seems set to become the first golfer since Nick Faldo in 1989 to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award, after his iconic 2025. That is what the bookies say, who make him the almost overwhelming favourite.

Throughout the evening I will be reacting to the show, commenting on the good, the bad and the downright stupid, and, most likely reporting on the news that someone other than Rory has won this award, despite a year of truly outstanding achievement which puts him among the top 10 greatest golfers of all-time.

This Live blog will be updated regularly, and available on both www.shank.golf and www.grndstnd.co.uk
