2200 BST That's it for now, but GRNDSTND will be back at Midnight with a feature article on this World Cup's political and social legacy, followed by a Live blog covering the USA's first game of the tournament at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
2158 BST An excellent performance from Canada, and if they can be more clinical they can get through this group. Bosnia defended well but Canada will feel they could have won this game. A great atmosphere in Toronto.
FULL TIME CANADA 1-1 BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA CANADA EARN THEIR FIRST EVER WORLD CUP POINT
95 mins Canada 1-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina moving towards a draw, can Canada find one more chance?
6 minutes added on, do Canada have the energy to keep going and get a dramatic and historic winner?
87 mins Canada 1-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina the atmosphere in Toronto is electric, Canada have been excellent
85 mins Canada 1-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina Corner to Bosnia, which they mess up and Canada break away
79 mins GOAAALLLLL!!!! OH CANADA! KYLE LARIN smashes home from inside the box into the corner, magnificent goal for the hosts and wow what a finale we have ahead of us in Toronto! Canada 1-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina
75 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina Canada's momentum has stalled, they need to find a goal to avoid an 8th loss out of 8 matches in the World Cup
2130 Hydration Break
68 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina Free kick to Canada around 30 yards from goal to the right, but it comes to nothing
66 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina Canada continue to put the pressure on but cannot convert o create that golden moment, Bosnia are defending well and protecting that early lead, but here comes Bosnia on the break
53 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina Sead Kolasinac with an extraordinary clearance onto the crossbar to save Bosnia, Canada dominant.
50 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina more enthusiasm from Canada, and a potential flashpoint as the Bosnia keeper collides with Oluwaseyi but no penalty
2106 BST Here come the players for the second half, huge 45 minutes for Canada to come
HALF-TIME Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina - Canada have been much the better team, they have had most of the territory and most of the ball, they have had the better chances, but Bosnia lead heading into the break with virtually their only significant touch in the Canada box. More than 66% possession, 8 shots, 20 touches in the Bosnia box and 9 corners won for Canada.
39 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina incessant pressure from Canada, but the keeper hasn't been stretched yet
37 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina another corner for Canada, Liam Miller on the left wing is a real threat, and the response since the goal has been good
32 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina second golden chance for Canada, Oluwaseyi blazes over from around 9 yards in the right channel
29 mins Canada 0-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina Foul on Jonathon David on the left edge of the box, the free kick is poor and Canada eventually lose the ball, however they win it back immediately and keep the pressure on
23 mins Hydration break comes at a good time for Canada
GOAL! 20 mins CANADA 0-1 BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA It is a simple goal for Lukic, header from the corner kick and Bosnia lead. Canada's ill discipline is going to cost them here, understandable enthusiasm but cool heads required and conceding silly free kicks and corners throughout this first half
17 mins Canada 0-0 Bosnia & Herzegovina Jonathon David has a golden chance 8 yards out and fires it straight at the Bosnian goalkeeper, a great chance to give the hosts the lead!
11 mins Canada 0-0 Bosnia & Herzegovina Alistair Johnston sees yellow for a desperate late challenge and Canada have conceded yet another free kick, discipline could cost them if this carries on
4 mins Canada 0-0 Bosnia & Herzegovina Positive start from both teams, but Canada starting to concede a few silly free-kicks in their own half
1956 BST OH CANADA! is sung by none other than Alanis Morrisette
1955 BST Alexander Crasjic plays the Bosnian National Anthem, no words to this beautiful piece
1954 BST the teams of Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina enter the pitch, here we go, match number three of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the first for co-hosts Canada, the 19th host nation since the first tournament in 1930
1949 BST Michael Buble performs as flagbearers carrying flags of all 48 countries encircle the centre circle, but BBC think their their pundits voices are more important. Please stop this! Let us decide what we want to watch, the ceremonies are part of the joy of any World Cup, not the punditry.
1927 BST Now time for a feature on England, Kelly Somers is with the England camp.
1919 BST Forget the god-awful Salford studio backdrop, the BBC build-up is just so much more enjoyable and professional than ITV, no insufferable negativity. Now a piece on Scotland's first World Cup since 1998. Eilidh Barbour is with the Scotland camp.
1905 BST Well in the battle of the titles ITV have won over BBC, resoundingly, that intro from the BBC looked like it was filmed in the UK rather than anywhere in the USA, Canada or Mexico. Much closer on the pundits though with Wayne Rooney, Olivier Giroud and Micah Richards joining Gabby Logan.
1856 BST Well, that's it for now for the opening ceremony, but I rather expect something more to come nearer to kick off. BMO Field looks like a half-finished, or even temporary stadium, not quite the spectacular BC Place which we will see in Vancouver.
1850 BST Jessie Reyes performs "Illuminate"
1846 BST Alessia Cara performs "Wild Things" & "Fire"
1844 BST Noticeably less fans in their seats for this ceremony than there were at the Azteca yesterday.
1841 BST The second of three Opening Ceremonies to launch this super-sized event is getting underway now. The biggest event on Canadian soil since the Women's World Cup in 2015, and before that the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Nods to Canada's history and heritage at the start of the ceremony through the voices and performances of indigenous people.
1835 BST Here we go then, a different energy and vibe awaits us in Toronto as co-hosts Canada get their tournament off and running with a second Opening Ceremony and their first game versus Bosnia and Herzegovina at BMO Field (known as Toronto Stadium for the 2026 FIFA World Cup). Canada reached the semi-finals of the 2024 Copa America in the United States, and should not be underestimated at this tournament. Bosnia are the second European team to play at this World Cup, after Czechia lost 1-2 to South Korea in Guadalajara last night.
BBC coverage begins at 7pm, with the Opening Ceremony available online. We will get to see their virtual reality studio in Salford, how wonderful. Gabby Logan presents with MIcah Richards alongside for punditry.
