Premier League Champions Arsenal will host EFL Champions Coventry City on Friday Night Football on Sky Sports, Friday 21 August, launching Sky's 35th season of Premier League football. Arsenal ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title in May and will look to successfully defend the English top flight title for the first time since 1935. Coventry City will be making their first appearance in the Premier League since 2001 and will be making their first ever visit to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal lost 0-3 at home to Coventry City on the opening day of the 1993/94 Premier League season, and the Sky Blues went on to complete a league double over the Gunners with a home win in December 1993. The Premier League season has started on a Friday night since 2017 when Arsenal were involved in a 4-3 thriller against Leicester City, they then featured against Brentford in 2021 and were embarrassed 2-0 by the newly promoted team. In 2022 they played Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and won 2-0 in a vibrant display which launched an unexpected run at the Premier League title.

25 of Arsenal's 38 Premier League games were shown Live on Sky Sports in the 2025/26 season.

Sky Sports will show six matches from the opening weekend of the Premier League exclusively live:

Friday 21 August

Arsenal vs Coventry City – 8pm

Saturday 22 August

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur – 5:30pm

Sunday 23 August

Manchester City vs AFC Bournemouth – 2pm

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Aston Villa – 2pm

Newcastle United vs Liverpool – 4:30pm

Monday 24 August

Fulham vs Chelsea – 8pm

Sky Sports will have at least 215 exclusively live Premier League games again this season as part of a rights deal lasting until May 2029. This includes all first pick matches, giving fans the best action possible during the 2026/27 season.

Sky Sports shows more Premier League matches than anywhere else, with at least four matches every game week. The slots secured under the current partnership between Sky Sports and the Premier League include Friday nights, Saturday evening, every Sunday fixture and Monday nights. On Sundays, Sky Sports will again offer a Multivew option at 14.00 allowing fans to follow the action across multiple fixtures on one channel.

All 10 matches on the final day of the Premier League season will be live on Sky Sports. The final day of the 2025/26 campaign was watched by an average of over 3 million in-home viewers across the day’s coverage, delivering a share of more than 40% among U35s on the Sunday.

Sky Sports will be home to most of the festive season fixtures, including Boxing Day Premier League football.
